About us

The Albuquerque Professional Chapter of Engineers Without Borders was founded in early 2007. We have engineers and scientists from the Albuquerque, Santa Fe, and Los Alamos areas. We coordinate and cooperate with the EWB chapter at UNM, holding occasional joint meetings and offering assistance and mentoring as required. We are actively recruiting for new members to join our group.

Our chapter currently has two domestic projects:
1) refurbishing and installation of solar thermal heaters in homes on the Navajo Reservation near Grants.

2) testing and treatment of drinking water sources for families in the Black Mesa area of the Navajo Reservation NE of Flagstaff

The EWB philosophy considers projects holistically—technical, human factors, and sociologic effects are all part of the planning process.
